—  About

Natalia is a Ukrainian composer and violinist.

Defined by a distinctive use of strings and vocals, Natalia's compositions draw from her classical performance background to combine elements of folk, electronica, and new-classical genres. A prolific writer, Natalia has released a number of singles, EPs and albums since her debut LP, 'Choven' in 2020. These include a collaboration with composer and pianist Angus MacRae on two EPs, Silent Fall (2021) and II (2022), and a composition for the vocal collective SANSARA 'A Quiet Night - Tyhoyi Nochi' (2022), released on Platoon. 'Tyhoyi Nochi' has been performed all over the world by both leading and amateur choirs since then. One of Natalia's most recent solo releases is 'When We Return To The Sun' EP (2022), recorded at Funkhaus Berlin and released by Nils Frahm & Felix Grimm's label LEITER. It is a contemplative and intimately beautiful set combining classical instrumentation with electronic and electro-mechanical elements.

Natalia contributed her solo piece, 'Elegy for Spring', to the compilation 'Piano Day Vol.1', which was released by LEITER as part of the annual Piano Day celebrations. Natalia has also been featured in the 7K! Compilation, String Layers Vol.II, with her track, 'The Trees Will Swing'.

Natalia has scored award-winning films across fiction, documentary, and animation that have screened internationally. Her latest scoring job was a BBC TWO documentary 'Scandalous: Phone Hacking on Trial' (2023) - featuring Hugh Grant, Sienna Miller, and others. Since 2017, Natalia has been collaborating with the Kyiv National Academic Molodyy Theatre, scoring several plays, including the latest hit ‘Zillya’ (2024).

As a violinist, Natalia performed all around the world, both as a soloist and a member of chamber groups and orchestras in venues such as Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, ORF RadioKulturhaus, Synchron Stage Vienna, and the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. She has also worked as a session violinist and violist with composers Lorne Balfe, Oli Julian, Jessica Jones, Nainita Desai, and many others, including projects like The Wheel of Time (2021-), Dopesick (2021-), The Tinder Swindler (2022).

After graduating from Lysenko Music School in Kyiv, she was classically trained at The Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. She then went on to graduate with an MA in Composing for Film and Television from the National Film and Television School, where she was mentored by Dario Marianelli.
